TRANSFER STUDENTS

Are you a transfer student?
For admissions purposes, you are considered a transfer student if you have completed college-level course work after high school.

You will need to provide official transcripts covering all your college-level credits. If you completed college-level work during high school, you are also required to provide official college transcripts.

If you have completed fewer than 24 college credits, you may have to meet additional requirements—such as submitting high school records and standardized test scores—before you are admitted.

Transfer students should apply six months before the semester they plan to attend K-State.

How to apply
1. Submit the K-State admissions application with the $30 application fee.
If you apply on the web, your payment will need to be submitted by credit card. Applications are also available from your high school or college counselor.

2. Have your official high school transcripts sent, if needed.
If you have earned fewer than 24 hours of college-level credit by the time you plan to attend K-State, have your high school mail or fax an official transcript. Request that ACT send your official test results to K-State (college code 1428). SAT scores may substitute for ACT scores (college code 6334).

3. Have your official college transcripts sent.
Have all the college(s) you've attended mail or fax an official transcript to the K-State Office of Admissions.

First semester of college credit: If this is your first semester taking college courses, do not send a college transcript until the current semester ends and grades are recorded on the transcript.

Previous college credit: If you have completed college courses at the school you are now attending, have your transcript now and again after your current semester ends and grades are recorded on the transcript. A partial transcript is often sufficient to allow us to make an early admission decision and to begin the transfer credit evaluation for degree requirements.

Note: Transcripts are required from all colleges you've attended, regardless of whether credits apply to your degree, you enrolled and withdrew, received no credit, or received failing grades.

4. Check out how your courses transfer to K-State.
Information about equivalent courses from other Kansas and regional institutions is available online. See which courses transfer

What happens next?
K-State will evaluate your transfer credentials
As soon as your application and transcripts are received, the Office of Admissions will determine which credits to accept and notify you of admission.
See how your credits are evaluated

At the same time, the dean of your intended college will be notified that your transfer courses are ready to evaluate. Your K-State advisor will then determine how the credits apply toward your degree requirements.

Watch your mailbox
When you are admitted you will receive a letter from the university president. Also watch for important details about enrollment dates, financial aid, housing procedures, and the health center.
